 photo MyMrManny_Amazon_iBooks_zpshznjanza.jpg  5ff9a-synopsis
After getting swept up in nostalgia and losing herself in a quickly progressing romance, her fantasy falls apart. She is left to raise her precious little girl, Lucia, on her own. The demands of Mia’s work schedule and Lucia’s needs increase, and their lives become increasingly hectic. It is soon clear to Mia that she needs help. Luckily, her life-saving cousin saves the day and brings the mother and daughter a male nanny – their new “manny.”

After losing his high-pressure job on Wall Street, Dominic Roberts wants to follow his dreams to have a family. He’s already one fiancĂ©e down, and there are no likely prospects for another. In order to find the family he so desperately wants, he finds himself getting into the manny business. Since he is fully qualified to provide childcare and is eager to leave New York City behind, his sister-in-law is able to land him a job in California working for his first client – the beautiful and intriguing Mia Balducci.

Will Lucia like the new man in her mother's life? Will Mia? And will this new trio discover the happily ever after they all so desperately seek?

3a742-excerpt The first thing I saw were his eyes, which were a shade that transcended the most beautiful green things in the world: peacock feathers, limes, and lush leaves. They were small, slanted, and topped with thick dark eyebrows, which added a hint of mystery. His hair was dark black and slicked back. The bone structure of his face was strong, masculine, and angled. I couldn’t stop looking at him.

He cleared his throat and put out his hand. “I’m Dominic.”

I grabbed it in a firm shake, and I felt like I could see my future in that instant. Pictures of Dominic and me together in our old age flashed before my eyes. I felt comforted, as if I were wrapped in a warm coat of love. It was an amazing feeling.

After much too long of a handshake, I pulled my hand back and said, “I am so sorry, Dominic. Please excuse my manners.” I waved him in with my right hand, while holding the door open with my left. “Come in. I’m Mia, by the way. Let’s have a seat in the living room to talk.”"

Available for purchase on Amazon for Kindle and Paperback.

#Review Shell Game by Chris Keniston #ContemporaryRomance

Title: Shell Game
Author: Chris Keniston
Rating: 4 stars

Whenever I read a new to me author I never quite know what to expect. I have a soft spot for military heroes, so I was crossing my fingers that this would be a good one.

Luke a Sharla were a fun couple. Their meeting is entertaining and I enjoyed the build up between them. The author did a good job with the two characters backstories and creating realistic obstacles for them to overcome.

My only real complaint with this story was that at times the sub plot seemed to overshadow the romance. I wanted more Luke and Sharla and less of the 'Shell Game'. Even so, I loved Sharla's grandmother and Herbie. I felt they gave the story a well rounded feel.

Good editing, and the story has a nice flow to it. I would have liked to have seen some more private moments between Luke and Sharla, but the ones we got were good.

I would recommend this to readers who are looking for a light dose of mystery/suspense with their romance.

#Review Karma By The Sea by Traci Hall #Romance

Title: Karma By The Sea
Author: Traci Hall
Rating: 2.5 stars

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

Where to start with this book. I liked Joe and Karma. The author did a good job in making their romance believable. That was the saving grace of this story for me.

So why only 2.5 stars? There are a lot of editing issues in this story...missing words, wrong tenses, wrong words.  I also found a few plot holes/inconsistencies. Not with the main romance, but with one of the subplots. It completely pulled me out of the story as my brain was going back and rehashing what I'd read previously and how it didn't fit with what was now being said.

This story also dealt a lot with gods and goddesses since Karma is half native Hawaiian. It was a key part of Karma's personality and the story would have been very different without it.

I would recommend this book to those who don't mind editing issues and are looking for a different type of romance.

#TeaserTuesday In My Mother's Footsteps by Jennifer Garcia

This week's #TeaserTuesday is from romance author Jennifer Garcia. She's just rereleased her books with new covers and they're back on Amazon!! Today we'll be featuring In My Mother's Footsteps, a sweet, heartfelt romance set in Hawaii.

  5ff9a-synopsis

Anela Alborn’s life is a lie. After growing up without the love of a father, her mother reveals his identity. Tragedy strikes and she sets off on an adventure that leads to more than she could ever imagine. Bumping into Christian Sivers distracts her from the real man of her dreams, her father. Will he live up to her dreams? And does she follow in her mother’s footsteps?

  3a742-excerpt

“You have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen,” he murmured, enunciating every word. I closed my eyes again in disbelief. People were always so mystified by my eyes, and usually not in a good way. I was teased quite a lot as a kid due to the unique color of my irises. The kids had been cruel and relentless; they would meow at me and tell me I was part cat. Even though I knew it wasn’t true, it still stuck with me and scarred me. It was difficult to adjust to the reactions I had been getting as an adult. Most adults said they liked my eyes and that it was a good thing to have them resemble the eyes of a cat, but feeling so self-conscious about it was a hard habit to break. He dropped his hand from my face, picked up his beer, and took a sip. “Please don't shut me out. It’s just that I have never seen eyes that color before. They're like cat eyes.” “I think you have beautiful eyes, too. In fact, I admired them all day. I've never seen eyes that color blue before,” I told him. Christian laughed before giving me his sexy, cocky smile, the one where just one side of his mouth lifted up, and it screamed, “Yeah, I know I’m fine.”

Available for purchase on Amazon for Kindle and Paperback.

#Review Songbird by Sydney Logan #Romance

Title: Songbird
Author: Sydney Logan
Rating: 4 Stars

I read an excerpt of this book the author submitted to my blog and it intrigued me. This isn't the first book I've read by this author and I doubt it will be the last. While her books tend to be on the sweeter side of things, it's always a good story and I appreciate that.

Songbird centers around Callie and Devin. They meet at a wedding and end up spending the night together. At the end of the weekend they go their separate ways, however, fate has other plans.

Both of the main characters are very likable and it's easy to relate to them. There were a couple exceptions when it came to Callie's refusal to forgive Devin for how he reacted to the bombshell she dropped on him, but it wasn't hard to excuse given the circumstances.

There is a white rose on the cover of the book and that holds a special significance in the story. Once the entire backstory was revealed I had an 'aww' moment.

While the sex scenes aren't all behind closed doors, the aren't overly detailed either. The story has a nice flow to it. There wasn't any point and time when things felt rushed or bogged down.

The book had a few minor editing issues, but nothing that took me out of the story.

I would recommend this to those who like sweet romances.

#TeaserTuesday Nerdy Girl Nation by Lindsey Gray #ContemporaryRomance

This week’s #TeaserTuesday is from romance novelist, Lindsey Gray. Nerdy Girl Nation is the first book in Gray’s new Nerdy Girl Novel series. This novel takes us behind the scenes of reality television and professional wrestling, what it is like to live behind a mask while being in front of the camera, and how to fall in love with the one-that-almost-was.

Who knew the girl who spent most of her Saturday nights watching Doctor Who marathons with her best friend would end up becoming a reality television star? Not Emma MacLean.

Emma tried to leave the nerdy girl behind as the Vice President of Operations for billionaire venture capitalist, Terrance Hunt, on the hit show Hunt for Life. When double tragedies occur on the same day, Emma is out of a job, but the cameras and a nation of fans continue to follow her.

Rob “Bobby” Breyer lived and breathed the professional wrestling circuit for five years. Rob happens to be a devoted Hunt for Life fan due to a chance meeting with Emma while in high school. When he reaches out to Emma in her time of crisis, he never imagines how much it will change his life.

After twelve years, their attraction still sizzles and this time, Rob's not letting Emma get away. As the cameras roll, Emma's new career and Rob's quest for glory are in the spotlight. When the heat is on, they'll need all the support they can get from the Nerdy Girl Nation.

In this excerpt, you get a glimpse of Emma and Rob coming face to face for the first time in twelve years. Emma is at the training facility for the wrestling company Rob works for when he spies Emma with her brother, Harry, from across the room

“Perfect!” Cherry instructed. “You're a natural.” Cherry turned her head to Aaron. “You think we can convince her to fight in a real match?”

Emma laughed as she got off Peaches and helped her up.

“Never say never, Emma.” Harry cocked his eyebrow at her.

Sometimes she hated how well her brother got her. He would pick this moment to remember her childhood daydream of becoming a women's champion. Harry would use this as an opportunity to share it with the world if she didn't shut him down.

“Enough of your mouth.” Her eyes drifted from her brother to the crowd of people who gathered around the ring.

Emma’s heart leapt into her throat. Rob Breyer stared right at her with a brilliant smirk on his face. Sweat drenched hair, crystal blue eyes, killer smile, and a body currently making her lady parts ache rattled her entire being.

“Good to see you again, Emma.” Rob offered his hand to help her out of the ring.

“You too, Rob.” She immediately backtracked. “I mean, Bobby.”

“Rob is fine.” She realized she held his hand a bit longer than she needed to and reluctantly pulled away. “It's been a while.”

“Twelve years.” Emma lost herself in his eyes, but the real world intruded when Aaron spoke up.

“That's right, you two know each other,” Aaron mentioned with a sideways glance at Rob.

“Emma was part of one of the most important days of my life.” Rob's smile intimated something sinful. She needed to set things straight.

“What he means is I was there the day he won the national wrestling championship against my boyfriend.”

Rob turned to Aaron and continued the story. “I met her and her boyfriend, Derek, during the tournament. Derek and I were both shocked when we advanced to the final match against each other.”

“Rob won the match after Derek put him through the ringer.” Emma laughed at the memory of the two teenagers rolling around on the mat.

“Yes, but Derek got the girl.” Rob's smile was genuine and caused a flush to creep up Emma's neck to her cheeks.

“Didn't last much longer,” Harry quipped. “Not after—”

Emma smacked Harry on the shoulder. “I don't think this is the time or place to get into my lackluster love life.”

“Oh, I don't know. I might be interested in hearing what an idiot my old pal Derek is.” Rob walked over next to Harry like they were old friends.

Emma grabbed Harry's arm, pulled it around his back and forced it upward. “Don't you dare.”

“I give! I give!” Emma let go as the crowd around them laughed. “I taught you well, young Padawan.”
