Did You Venture Out On Black Friday?

Black Friday shopping. People either seem to love it or hate it.

I fall in the 'loving it' category. And not because I have a great desire to fight over the latest and greatest thing at the mall. Nope. In fact, I tend to steer clear of malls when I venture out on Black Friday.

For me, Black Friday is a day for my mom and me to spend some time together and get our Christmas shopping done. On the whole, I'm not a big shopper, so for me this is one day I can set aside to purchase all my gifts in one go.

This year was a little different than Black Friday's of the past. There weren't as many people in the stores and there weren't as many fantastic deals as there have been in the past. But, my mom and I still got to spend some quality time together and get all our Christmas shopping out of the way.

It's a great feeling to know that all my shopping is done with almost a month to go till Christmas. Now, I just have to find the time to wrap them all.

How's your Christmas shopping coming?

Happy Thanksgiving

The best part of Thanksgiving is the food. Some of the best memories I have as a child involve gathering together as a family and diving into more food than we could possibly eat in one sitting.

Growing up, we used to go to my grandmother's house. All my aunts and uncles and cousins used to come and everyone would bring a side dish while grandma would cook the turkey.

As time has gone by, things have changed. These days it's just my immediate family and my mom and I do all the cooking. Every year, I'm responsible for the pumpkin pie. Sure, I could buy it, but it doesn't taste the same...probably because of my huge sweet tooth.

My secret? Add sweetened condensed milk instead of evaporated milk. It makes all the difference!

This was my effort this year. I think it came out pretty good and I can't wait to cut into it.

Do you make your own pumpkin pie or do you buy a pre-made one from the store?

Pre-order Your Copy Of Change (Finding Anna, Book 5)

Release Date: December 15, 2020

In this long-awaited next installment, Brianna and Stephan are settling into their new home outside of Le Sueur. The river that runs behind their house provides a peace Brianna had never found in the city.

It’s been three years since she stood in a courtroom and faced the man who’d held her captive and altered her life forever. Since then, she’d been trying to move on with her life...trying to find her way.

The move was part of that. Too many people knew who Stephan was—who she was. They needed a fresh start.

But demons are funny things. They follow you wherever you go. With the help of Stephan and a new therapist, Brianna will have to face the changes in her life and confront her fears.

Change (Finding Anna, Book 5) Cover Reveal Coming Soon

I published what I thought was the last book in my Finding Anna series six years ago. Everything was wrapped up, and I was happy with ending Stephan and Brianna's story with Trust. But since Trust was published, I've had many readers ask me for more of this amazing couple. No one wanted to say goodbye. These two have a way of pulling at your heartstrings and not letting go.

After going back and forth for several years on whether or not I wanted to continue the series, I got an idea and sat down to write. I hadn't realized how much I missed Stephan and Brianna until I began writing them again. These two will always be a part of me.

Searching For My 11th Great Grandfather

Last weekend I walked through an old cemetery. It was cold and wet, and by the time I left my feet were soaked from walking through all the leaves. I was there searching for any information on my relatives who once lived in the area and my 11th great grandfather who was a deacon at the church that used to be there.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to locate the grave of my 11th great grandfather. He died before the cemetery was officially established. But I was able to speak to the groundskeeper and he showed me where the old church was, as well as, several gravestones that bear the surname of an aunt that lived about 75 years after my great grandfather.

Have you done any of your family history?
