Flash Fiction Friday - 6-29-12

Flash Fiction Friday is a author challenge. What can you do with only 100 words?

Absolutely beautiful. She was bound exactly as I wanted her to be, waiting. It was one of those things that was hard to explain, why seeing the woman I loved with rope hugging her body, her arms, her legs, made my heart race. It wasn’t only that she was bound. It was the relaxed nature of her face, the calm I felt for her. She was releasing control of her body, and giving it to me.

Crossing the room, I reached behind her, grapping a fist full of her dark hair, and yanked her head back. She was all mine.

Six Sentence Sunday - June 24, 2012

Brianna was quiet the entire ride home, and I wondered what she was thinking. I caught her clamping her lips together a few times, which told me she wasn't just passively watching buildings go by.

When we arrived back atg the condo, I went upstairs and let her know she was free to do as she wished until it was time to make dinner. As I logged onto my e-mail, I could hear her moving around downstairs and wondered what she was doing with her time. My mind seemed to be on little else these days.

Never had one woman dominated my thoughts as she did.

Book 2 in the Finding Anna Series, Need, releases on July 26, 2012.

Flash Fiction Friday - 6-22-12

Flash Fiction Friday. What can you do with only 100 words?

Nothing.

The only thing she could hear were the birds flying around her. They were all that was left. Her home, her family…gone.

She looked at what used to be her mother’s vegetable garden. Only a few of the plants remained, the rest had been stripped or trampled, just like everything else.

She was alone. Completely, and utterly alone.

What if she hadn’t gone off this morning? What if she’d been there with her family? Would it have made a difference?

No. It wouldn’t have changed the outcome.

Taking one last look, she stood, and walked back into the forest.

Audiobook Anyone?

About a month ago on my Facebook page, I asked a question to my followers about audio books. Do you listen to them? Why or why not?

The overwhelming reason I got back for people not listening to audio books was that the narrators were annoying. I knew exactly what they meant! I've listened to several audio books over the years, sometimes its nice to have a good distraction while driving long distances, and I've encountered some very bad audio recordings. Some were so annoying that they pulled me out of the story.

This is why, when I was told that Slave was going to be turned into an audio book that I was grateful I was given a say in who the narrators would be. I got to listen to the male and female voices this past weekend, and make my recommendation. It was a fun process, but I will admit it was a little strange hearing the words I'd written being read out loud.

The woman who will be reading Brianna's part is a little older than what I would have liked, however, when I heard her reading Brianna's POV I felt she nailed her helpless vulnerability in Slave. Her reading was so full of emotion that she pulled me right into the story. The man reading Stephan's POV also had that tone that drew me in.

They are supposed to start work on recording Slave this week. I don't have a tentative date for it's release yet. When I find out, I'll let you all know. I'm really looking forward to hearing the final recording.

Six Sentence Sunday - June 17, 2012

In preparation for Need (Finding Anna Book 2) release next month, we are focusing on Slave for Six Sentence Sunday.

It was then I got it. "You want me to buy her." It wasn't a question, and he didn't deny it. The thought of "buying" a woman turned my stomach, but if what Daren said was true, I couldn't just leave her there.

I needed more information and ignored my food as it grew cold on my plate. "What makes you think he'd be willing to part with his property?"

Need will be available July 26th.

Flash Fiction Friday - 6-15-12

Flash Fiction Friday. What can you do with only 100 words?

She lay on the floor naked, with her legs spread wide, reading her magazine, a habit she’d adopted on Saturday mornings after she’d gotten her own place. She wasn't sure why she liked it so much, but the pull in her muscles felt good.

Footsteps approached her from behind. She'd almost forgotten about him. What would he think finding her this way?

She didn't have to wait long to get her answer. He came to a stop behind her, and lowered himself to the floor. His lips grazed her neck, sending shivers down your spine. "What do we have here?"

"Shh, Brianna."

It was then I felt the tears. I was crying. He must be so disappointed in me. Even though he didn't sounds angry, I knew he must be.

What if he took me back?

Flash Fiction Friday - 6-8-12

Flash Fiction Friday. What can you do with only 100 words?

His arms and legs were tied securely to the bed. There was a little give in the ropes, but not much. The sound of her heels clicking on the wood floor caught his attention as she re-entered the room. He turned his head and noticed she had something in her hand. Both his nerves and his excitement peaked. Knowing she had complete control of him sent a rush of adrenaline through him.

She climbed up onto the bed, straddling him. One hand pressed against his chest, the other at his neck where he suddenly felt something very cold and wet.

Lori Foster Event!

I just returned home from my first ever conference. After talking to several other people there, I'm really glad I chose this one to be my first. Everything was very relaxed and I was able to talk and meet a lot of readers, authors, blogger, and even some publicists.

I'm absolutely horrible about remembering to take pictures, but I did take some.

When we first arrived, they split us up into two lines for registration. Things went pretty quickly once they got into a rhythm, which was good because the line was long.

The first night I was there, I met a group of ladies who were part of an on-line book club. One of the ladies was a huge fan of Slave. She's from Alaska, and had traveled to Ohio specifically for the event.
Saturday I spent mostly in the main ballroom talking to people. I met two sisters. One is really new to reading romance, and her older sister dragged her to the conference. After telling her about my books, she bought Hidden threat and Behind Closed Doors since she loves romantic suspense.
Sunday morning I had breakfast with another group of ladies and ended up running into another fan of Slave. She said she loved it so much, that one of the other ladies with our group walked out to my vehicle with me before I left and bought a copy of Slave for herself.

It really was a great weekend. I had lots of fun, and met some great people. Hopefully I will be able to go again next year! :)
