Flash Fiction Friday - 2-24-12

Flash Fiction Friday. What can you do with only 100 words?

She was trembling. Every time one of her flashbacks hit her, it tore me in two. I wished more than anything I could take them from her, shoulder the pain, but wishing wouldn’t change reality. She’d been through more than most people ever had within a lifetime, and dealing with the flashbacks, the panic, this was all part of the process.

I held her as close to me as possible, murmuring words of comfort, letting her know I was here for her. She would make it through this. She would survive. All I have to do was hold on tight.
