Flash Fiction Friday - 2-3-12

Flash Fiction Friday. What can you do with only 100 words?

I was too late.

My gaze raked over his features as he lay there in the leaves. His head was turned, so I couldn’t see his face. It didn’t matter. He was completely still. I knew.

The fallen leaves crunched under my feet with each step I took, sounding loud to my ears. As I took the final steps, I knelt at his side. Reaching out, I was almost afraid to touch him.

Closing my eyes to steady myself, I pressed my hand against the exposed skin around his middle. Cold. My brother was dead. I really was too late.

  3. What emotional piece. Without looking at the image, I felt like I was there with, staring down at his brother’s dead body. Nicely done.

  5. I am an only child so I can't imagine the loss of a sibling, but you did a very good job of taking me there. Good Flash. Keep up the good work.

  6. Oh My that was sad. It would break my heart to find a loved one like that. Nice tease, now I want to know that he found who killed his brother and made them suffer.
