Revamping My Website

One of the first things I did when I signed the contract on my debut novel was to set up a website. It helps readers and bloggers find you and your books. My website has taken on a few recreations over the years. When I created my first one, I had no idea what I was doing. It was very basic (of course I only had one book at the time), and wasn't very user friendly.

As time went on, I became more comfortable with my brand, the types of books I typically write, and marketing in general. I did some research and looked at what some of the other popular authors in the genre were doing.

But websites are living creatures. They need to evolve with your business whether you're manufacturing a widget or writing books. About six months ago, after taking a marketing class, I realized the website I currently have wasn't doing all I needed it to do. It needed to change, grow.

So for the last few weeks I've been rebuilding my website. It's been a lot of work re-entering everything, including the buy links to all the retail sites that sell my books, but in the end I believe it will be worth it.

One of the big changes that's coming is that I will now have a shop on my site. Readers will be able to not only purchase signed books from me, but I also have plans to offer merch as well for those who are interested.

A paddle with my logo on it? What do you think?

Is there merch you'd like to see in my store? Mugs with book quotes on them? T-shirts? Let me know in the comments.

I can't wait to share the new site with you!
