Review - The Honeymoon Crashers by Christina Lauren

This is the first book I've read by Christina Lauren, but it won't be my last. There were several times while listening to this audio book where I laughed out loud.

I loved Amy right from the start. Her love for her sister was endearing as was her willingness to jump on a plane short notice to plan her sister's dream wedding.

Brody took a little more getting used to. At first, he came across as a laid back surfer who couldn't take anything seriously. But as the story continued, he grew on me.

These two were opposites in many ways on the surface, but in the end they balanced each other out well.

If you're looking for a fun, short, romance, check out The Honeymoon Crashers by Christina Lauren.

What I'm Currently Reading - Practice Makes Perfect

Annie Walker is on a quest to find her perfect match—someone who complements her happy, quiet life running the local flower shop in Rome, Kentucky. But finding her dream man may be harder than Annie imagined. Everyone knows everyone in her hometown, and the dating prospects are getting fewer by the day. After she overhears her latest date say she is “so unbelievably boring,” Annie starts to think the problem might be her. Is it too late to become flirtatious and fun like the leading ladies in her favorite romance movies? Maybe she only needs a little practice . . . and Annie has the perfect person in mind to be her tutor: Will Griffin.

Will—the sexy , tattooed, and absolutely gorgeous bodyguard—is temporarily back in Rome, providing security for Amelia Rose as excitement builds for her upcoming marriage to Noah Walker, Annie’s brother. He has one personal objective while on the job: stay away from Annie Walker and any other possible attachments to this sleepy town. But no sooner than he gets settled, Will finds himself tasked with helping Annie find the love of her life by becoming the next leading lady of Rome, Kentucky. Will wants no part in changing the sweet and lovely Annie. He knows for a fact that some stuffy, straitlaced guy won’t make her happy, but he doesn’t have the heart to say no.

Amid steamy practice dates and strictly “educational” tutoring lessons, Annie discovers there are more layers to Will’s usual stoic attitude. As the lines of their friendship become dangerously blurred, Annie reconsiders her dream guy. Maybe her love life doesn’t need to be perfect—it just needs to be real.

What I'm Currently Reading - Crazy For Cowboy

This is a new to me author. I'm in the mood for some cowboys!

She’s through with cowboys. But this one’s the 'reel' deal.

Equine veterinarian, Emily Grant, has had her share of cowboys, and they always break her heart. After she vows to give them up forever, Brandon Hollister strides into her life.

He’s a different kind of cowboy, one that works on the silver screen. But is he just playing the part when it comes to love? Or can this gorgeous hunk get past a case of mistaken identity, and escape from the "Houston" character he's portraying, to become the man to win Emily’s heart.

Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert

Check out what I'm currently reading. This is the first time I've read this author, but so far I'm enjoying the story and the characters. Have you read Act your Age, Eve Brown?

In Talia Hibbert’s newest rom-com, the flightiest Brown sister crashes into the life of an uptight B&B owner and has him falling hard—literally.

Featured on Parade, PopSugar, Marie Claire, Oprah Mag, Bustle, Shondaland, CNN.com, Kirkus Magazine, Bookpage, USA Today, Bookish, Bookriot, and more!

Eve Brown is a certified hot mess. No matter how hard she strives to do right, her life always goes horribly wrong. So she’s given up trying. But when her personal brand of chaos ruins an expensive wedding (someone had to liberate those poor doves), her parents draw the line. It's time for Eve to grow up and prove herself—even though she's not entirely sure how…

Jacob Wayne is in control. Always. The bed and breakfast owner’s on a mission to dominate the hospitality industry and he expects nothing less than perfection. So when a purple-haired tornado of a woman turns up out of the blue to interview for his open chef position, he tells her the brutal truth: not a chance in hell. Then she hits him with her car—supposedly by accident. Yeah, right.

Now his arm is broken, his B&B is understaffed, and the dangerously unpredictable Eve is fluttering around, trying to help. Before long, she’s infiltrated his work, his kitchen—and his spare bedroom. Jacob hates everything about it. Or rather, he should. Sunny, chaotic Eve is his natural-born nemesis, but the longer these two enemies spend in close quarters, the more their animosity turns into something else. Like Eve, the heat between them is impossible to ignore... and it’s melting Jacob’s frosty exterior.

Review: Love Under Construction by M.C. Cerny

Hunter Hart knows construction.
He knows relationships hurt after watching his parents self destruct.
Somehow he forgot all the warnings when Taylor Jane Bryant blasted through the crumbling foundation around his heart.

Taylor Jane Bryant knows home design.
Well... she thinks she knows based on marathon sessions of her favorite television show.
Now she's all grown up and ready to nail the last stud, Hunter Hart.

A romantic comedy by M.C. Cerny, Love Under Construction is book one in the Love By Design series. Come meet a sullen, stubborn hero with a 2x4 stuck up his rear about falling in love, and a heroine who has watched every episode of the Property Brothers ready to flip her dream house. Between every construction nightmare possible, animals that need to move out, and friends determined to interfere, what could possible go right? Step into a small town with a big heart, and laugh your way into love. Each book in the LBD series is a standalone HEA romance.

My Review:

I liked Hunter and Taylor Jane and wanted to see their romance flourish (I'm a bit of a sucker for a good friends to lovers romance). These two have been friends since high school and have a long history. There's always been an attraction there, but they haven't acted on it because they were afraid it would ruin their friendship.

This is a blue collar romance, as the title implies, which I love. Taylor Jane buys a fixer upper and convinces her best friend, Hunter, who owns his own construction business, to help flip the house.

There are some funny bits in the story, but there are also some things that while probably meant to be funny just got on my nerves...mainly two of their friends. It really pulled the book down for me as they were always turning up when all I wanted to do was focus on the developing relationship between Hunter and Taylor Jane.

The writing was good and the editing was solid. I won't be continuing this series because the next book involves the two characters that got on my nerves in this one. However, I will most likely check out other books by this author.

About The Author

M.C. Cerny fell in love with books after experiencing her first real ugly cry reading, Where The Red Fern Grows. Her debut romantic suspense novel, Flashpoint was written in a series of post-it-note ramblings that would likely make her idol Tom Clancy and her mother blush. She is a post graduate of NYU, and calls rural NJ home with her menagerie of human and fur-babies. When M.C. is not writing, you'll find her lurking in Starbucks, running stupid marathon, singing Disney show tunes, and searching out the perfect shade of pink nail polish. xoxo
