He frowned.

Although she usually wanted to wipe that cocky grin of his off his face, she didn’t like the way this new expression made his face look. It was out of place, unnatural.
“Fine,” he said, his smile returning. This time, it held a devious quality. “Let’s go introduce the guys to my new girlfriend.”

Six Sentence Sunday - September 16, 2012

She backed toward the stairs without thinking. It was then that he noticed her, appraising her from head to foot, and his scrutiny made her uncomfortable. Even though she was completely clothed, she felt the need to cover herself.

He was huge, taller than Jared or her father. His hair was a dark brown, only a shade darker than his eyes, and he looked dangerous, more dangerous than her husband, and her frightened expression must have been apparent. She closed her eyes tight, willing everything to go away: her memories, her fear, this man before her.

Six Sentence Sunda - September 2, 2012

Brianna was quiet the entire ride home, and I wondered what she was thinking. I caught her clamping her lips together a few times, which told me she wasn't just passively watching buildings go by.

When we arrived back atg the condo, I went upstairs and let her know she was free to do as she wished until it was time to make dinner. As I logged onto my e-mail, I could hear her moving around downstairs and wondered what she was doing with her time. My mind seemed to be on little else these days.

Never had one woman dominated my thoughts as she did.

She had to use every bit of will power she possessed in order to pay attention. Cali knew she had to get a hold of herself. He worked for her. Well, he worked for her father and, in turn, for her for the next three months.

She sank down in the tub and let the water engulf her entire body, leaving only her head above the surface. Maybe she was over analyzing the connection with Matthew Andersen.

“You may call me whatever you wish, you know.”

“I know,” she said shyly. “It just doesn’t feel right to call you by your name.”

“Try it.”

“What?” she gasped.

I couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped my lips.

Six Sentence Sunday - July 1,2012

Happy July everyone!

I can't believe July is finially here, and that means we are getting close to Need's release. Only 25 more days and you will be able to purchase the second installment of my Finding Anna Series. For anyone who is not familiar with this series, Need is the second book in a continuing series. If you've not read Slave, Finding Anna Book 1, you would need to do so first in order to completely understand what's going on in this book.

I stood, looking at myself in the mirror, the events of last night running through my head. It wouldn’t stop. I couldn’t believe what he’d told me. For nearly a year, I had lived my life as a slave, as someone else’s property. Now I . . . wasn’t?

“I didn’t buy you to own you. Not like you think I did.”

It was then I got it. "You want me to buy her." It wasn't a question, and he didn't deny it. The thought of "buying" a woman turned my stomach, but if what Daren said was true, I couldn't just leave her there.

I needed more information and ignored my food as it grew cold on my plate. "What makes you think he'd be willing to part with his property?"

“Christopher Allen Daniels, do not play stupid with me. We’ve lived in this house for almost ten years now, and I can barely get you to come one Sunday a month. Last night you call, out of the blue, wanting to come for the weekend. Something is up.”

Six Sentence Sunday - May 5, 2012

Elizabeth Marshall drove her red Honda Civic into the little town of Springfield, Ohio. The simple name was one of the things that attracted her. It wasn’t complicated, and that was exactly what she needed in her life right now: no complications.

She wanted a fresh start, far away from all the memories of the city she’d left behind. Away from the person everyone thought she was. A person she’d really never been, before or after.

It was too late to deny it anymore; he wanted Cali Stanton more than he'd wanted any other woman in his life. The problem was he couldn't have her; nothing had changed. She was still his boss. He'd even heard her tell her father tonight that she had plans to go back to Africa after her dad was back on his feet. A relationship between the two of them was out of the question.

Six Sentence Sunday - February 19, 2012

I thought I'd mix it up a little. Today's six sentences come from my debute novel, Hidden Threat.

This morning she'd spent over an hour in the bathroom doing her hair and makeup, something she never did anymore, and donned one of her new power business suits. She pulled her reddish-brown hair up off her neck in a twist to give her a more professional air, as did the three-inch black pumps she wore. She looked good in the sleek black pants suit. Of course she should, given what it had cost. The sales woman had commented how much the suit complimented her figure, and she had to admit, it did show off her assets while hiding her flaws.

She ran a hand down the front of the suit and sighed, whispering to her reflection, "Ready or not, here I come."
