#Review #Romance My Forever Valentine by Tracey Alvarez

Title: My Forever Valentine
Author: Tracey Alvarez
Rating: 5 stars

I was excited to visit Stewart Island again. I love these characters and it was great to check in with the couples I fell in love with in previous books.

First, this is four short stories about the four couples we already met in this series and their first Valentine's Day with each other, so I would recommend reading the first four books in the series before picking up this one. Not a sacrifice by any means as they are all great reads.

I loved seeing these couples again, but I have to say that Del and Shaye were still my favorites. Their book was my first introduction to this author and I absolutely love them any way I can get them.

My only complaint? It was too short. LOL.

I would recommend this book to those who love small town contemporary romance and have read the first four books in the Stewart Island series.

One of my favorite authors, Tracey Alvarez, is giving away a signed copy of her newest Bounty Bay release, Mend Your Heart.

An idiot’s guide to falling for your best friend’s widow…

Now he’s a pariah with a screwed up knee and a burden of guilt toward his friend’s wife and daughter. Best thing for him to do is sink into the anonymous safety of his hometown. An even better thing to do would be to stop picturing Natalie in his arms.

For someone who doesn’t know a dummy pass from a drop kick, Natalie Fisher just wants to keep her late husband’s passion for sport in the past. But their teenage daughter’s rugby team is in desperate need of a coach and the man she can’t stand to be around has volunteered. A long buried attraction flares to life between Natalie and Isaac, one they can’t run far or fast enough to avoid. Soon rugby fever isn’t the only thing heating up Bounty Bay. #Review Teach Your Heart by Tracey Alvarez

Title: Teach Your Heart
Author: Tracey Alvarez
Rating: 5 stars

Tracey Alvarez is one of those authors I go to when I need a good story and I know she will delivery every time.

Owen is in desperate need of a nanny and Gracie stumbles into his orbit at exactly the right time-with the help of his niece and nephew. She is almost his exact opposite, a free spirit to his rigid and structured life. The physical attraction is there from the beginning, but it takes a little time for these two to connect on an emotional level. When it began to happen, though, I couldn't stop grinning.

One of the things I found most interesting about this couple was not only was their current lifestyle and view of life opposite, so was their upbringing. They both rebelled against all the things they disliked from their childhoods to the point where they almost lost themselves. It was beautiful to see them find not only each other but their true selves as they opened up and let love blossom.

As with all of this author's books, I didn't want Owen and Gracie's story to end. I would have loved to see how their life unfolded years into the future and look forward to seeing more of them in other Far North books.

I recommend this book to anyone who's looking for a great contemporary romance set in a small town.

#NewRelease #Romance Teach Your Heart by Tracey Alvarez

Title: Teach Your Heart (Far North Book 3)
Author: Tracey Alvarez
Release Date: November 30, 2016

Some lessons are harder to learn than others…

Doctor O-for-Awesome Owen Bennett is all about fixing broken things. Then the arrival of his orphaned nieces and nephew for twelve weeks causes his workaholic life to plummet into chaos. Hiring the beautiful but unpredictable Gracie Cooper as a live-in nanny might just get him out of a tight spot…or it could seduce them both into a reckless affair.

Excerpt

Gracie squinted into the dim interior and took a few steps inside. She hadn’t noticed the workbench, covered with rags and odd tools and some grease-slicked motor parts, last night. Beside the bench, a weed trimmer was in at least a half-dozen pieces. For a man who looked like dirt or motor oil wouldn’t dare cling to his Teflon-slick surface, he sure had one hell of a man cave.
You’re going to fix the mower?”
“Nobody else around to do it.” He picked up a metal toolbox and dumped it on the opposite side of the mower to where she stood. “Call it a leftover childhood hobby.”
“Fixing lawn mowers?”
“Fixing anything. Often stuff I’d already fiddled with and screwed up.”
“You taught yourself to repair things?”
He shook his head. “My dad taught me, mostly. He used to work as a mechanic before he met my mum. Think I got my love of figuring out how things work from him.”
“You didn’t want to become a mechanic like your dad?”
A cloud passed over Owen’s face then disappeared. “Not after I decided fixing people was way more interesting than fixing a motor.”
“I guess there’s a different kind of job satisfaction in that. Your family must be proud.”
“Yeah.”
His tone was so carefully neutral, Gracie couldn’t work out if there was an undercurrent of sarcasm beneath the word.
“So your parents still live in a house bus? The same one you lived in as a kid?”
A beat of silence followed while Owen stared into his open toolbox. After a moment, he selected a spanner and replied, “The very same.”
“And your siblings? You all grew up in the house bus?”
“Yup.” He crouched beside the lawn mower, slitting his eyes at it as if the thing had defied a direct order. “Think the spark plug is dirty.”
With two older brothers, Gracie was familiar with the male I don’t want to discuss this vibe. Rationally, she should back off and leave him alone. Emotionally, he’d piqued her curiosity, and she couldn’t resist jabbing the sleeping bear a bit more.
“So…no other awesome doctors in the family?”
He angled his chin, a grimace pulling down his mouth. “I don’t encourage that nickname in adult company; it makes me sound like an arrogant dick.”
Yep, she, too, had been guilty of an uncomplimentary first impression. But after meeting Owen, the nickname was actually kinda adorable. “Who started it?”
“One of my fellow interns, during training in Auckland. They called me ‘O’, and after one of our most grueling double shifts, one tagged me as ‘Doctor O-for-Overworked.’ My mate Simon deemed ‘O-for-Awesome’ funnier, and somehow it bloody stuck. It’s since followed me to Bounty Bay, and I suspect Simon contacted one of the triage nurses on the sly.”
He shot her a grin that caused a low flutter in her belly.
“The nurses introduce me to kids as Doctor O-for-Awesome—sometimes it distracts them for a moment; sometimes it makes them smile. It’s worth an embarrassing nickname then,” he added.
“I’m sure the patients you save think it’s very apt.” She gave her watch a pointed glance. “I’d better get myself and the girls ready.”
She backed out of the garage and hurried into the guest room to shower and change. If she woke in an emergency cubicle to see Owen’s face above her, she’d smile, too. Hey, a hottie doctor was easy on the eyes, but not a threat to her equilibrium.
But the guy tinkering with a mower, grease on his hands and scruff along his jaw…
The guy exposing a sliver of his vulnerable self he was probably unaware of…
That guy popped her bubble of safe distance he probably hadn’t even noticed her hiding behind.

Due South Boxed Set (Books 1-5) on sale for 99 cents #ContemporaryRomance

The Due South bundle contains the first five books of Tracey Alvarez’s best-selling series set against the stunning backdrop of Aotearoa, New Zealand. If you like heartwarming, sexy and sweet small-town romances with a touch of comedy, you’ll love sharing the journey with these authentic men and women struggling to find their special someone.

The first 5 Due South Books (over 1500 pages) included in this bundle are:

In Too Deep (Book #1)
Two hearts. A second chance. Everything on the line…

To save her brother from financial ruin, police diver Piper Harland does the one thing she swore she’d never do—return to the tiny island hometown on Stewart Island where Ryan “West” Westlake crushed her heart. West lost Piper once, but now she’s back for an unexpected six week visit. Maybe he wants her a little bit, but can he fall in love with such a flight risk? Saying goodbye the second time might just destroy them both.

Melting Into You (Book #2)
They’ll either melt or raze their lives to the ground…

Ben Harland is, by his own admission, a bit of a grouch. He doesn’t do soppy chick-flicks and he’s hen-picked enough as it is with his mother and two younger sisters on his case. He sure doesn’t need any more drama in his world. But life has a way of rearing up and biting him in the butt when he least expects it. Cue insta-daddyhood to an eight-year-old girl and an out-of-control attraction to Stewart Island's hot school teacher, Kezia Murphy.

Ready To Burn (Book #3)
Watch the sparks fly as they burn it up in the kitchen…

Shaye Harland desperately wants the role of Due South’s head chef, but the far too sexy Del Westlake muscles in and steals it. A reality TV show plans to feature Del at his estranged father’s restaurant—jump-starting his ruined reputation and career in the States—but will the sparks flying in the kitchen burn his chances of ever becoming Shaye’s Mr. Perfect?

Christmas With You (Book #4)
The Kiwi barbecue isn't the only thing sizzling this summer...

Carly Gatlin’s doesn’t want to spend another Christmas alone since her father died the year before. She’s come to Stewart Island in New Zealand to spend the holiday with her stepfamily, though she feels more of a Christmas Grinch than filled with good cheer. Kip Sullivan’s big, boisterous family have also arrived en-masse—someone just shoot him before his match-making relatives get out of control. Kip agrees to make Carly’s first Kiwi Christmas special, but will he gain more than mistletoe kisses from the woman who threatens to claim his heart?

My Forever Valentine (Book #5)
Love small town romance and Happily Ever Afters?

Dive into the Due South world to find out what your favourite characters are doing to celebrate Valentine’s Day with these four short and sweet romance stories.
Intended for mature 18+ aged readers.

#Review Melting Into You by Tracey Alvarez

Title: Melting Into You
Author: Tracey Alvarez
Rating: 5 stars

I keep thinking that one of these days Tracey Alvarez will writing a couple I won't like, but so far it hasn't happened. Ben and Kezia's story had me swooning.

Ben was a steadfast bachelor in In Too Deep, book one in this series, and Kezia was the island's new school teacher. On the outside these two seem worlds apart, but the attraction is there.

All their dancing around each other changes when Ben is forced to lean on Kezia. He needs her help and the passion that was right beneath the surface can't be held back. These two lit up the page. I didn't want their story to end.

I recommend this book to anyone who's looking for a great contemporary romance set in a small town.

#Review Hide Your Heart by Tracey Alvarez #ContemporaryRomance

Title: Hide Your Heart
Author: Tracey Alvarez
Rating: 5 stars

Tracey Alvarez has become one of my favorite authors. This is the third book by her that I've read and every single one of them has been stellar. The romances are believable as are the conflicts and the writing are top notch, too. Seriously, what is there not to love?

In this story we get to meet Nate and Lauren. They both come from very different backgrounds but each has what the other needs...someone to love...someone to trust.

Nate is pretty lovable. He's great with Lauren's son, Drew. There's this one scene where Nate is making 'monkey-roni' for Drew in her kitchen that is just adorable. He was exactly the right amount of tough and tender.

Lauren's character took a little longer to unravel. She's very secretive at first, but we don't find out all the details until about halfway through the book.

I enjoyed the pacing of this story. The author didn't rush the romance and it was easy and natural to watch these two fall in love.

I would recommend this book (and any of Tracey Alvarez's books) to anyone who is looking for a realistic contemporary romance with a lot of heart.

#Review In Too Deep by Tracey Alvarez

Title: In Too Deep
Author: Tracey Alvarez
Rating: 4.5 stars

I first discovered this author when I agreed to read and review the third book in this series, Ready To Burn. I loved it so much that I went looking for more from this author and found that this first book in the same series was free. Of course that meant I had to download it right away and I'm so glad I did.

Hard as it is to believe, I think I fell in love with West and Piper even more than I did Del and Shaye from Ready To Burn. Both West and Piper are strong characters and stubborn in their own way. But everything that happened between the two of them was believable. I completely understood Piper's feelings about what had happened in the past, both between her and West and with her family. It was nice to see the evolution of all of that and how the author both resolved things and also set up the next book in the series.

The editing in this one was almost flawless. There was one plot point that was repeated as if it was new information and it briefly pulled me out of the story. Other than that, I was once again amazed by this authors storytelling.

I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a well rounded romance with a touch of family drama.

#Review Ready To Burn by Tracey Alvarez

Title: Ready To Burn
Author: Tracey Alvarez
Rating: 5 stars

I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

It's been a while since I've read a book I felt deserved 5 stars, but this one does. Not only did the story keep me engaged, but there were parts where I burst out laughing.

This was the third book in the series, but it can definitely be read as a standalone. The author did a great job giving us enough information about the other characters so new readers wouldn't feel lost, but not enough where the entire story was being retold.

I loved Del and Shaye. They had amazing chemistry and the evolution of their relationship was believable. There was also a lot of character growth in this story from the main characters. They both started out in completely different places than where they ended up.

This book was also very well edited and the pacing was perfect. I never felt the story was rushed, and it didn't drag either. Two nights in a row I stayed up well past my bedtime trying to read just one more chapter.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a great contemporary romance with a culinary flare.
