~~EXCERPT~~

15-Minutes-Low-Res-Cover
We were introduced to the Queen quite suddenly. None of us had time to even look in a mirror to fix our hair. We met her in a small, cosy room filled with vases of white roses. She was sitting in a comfy red chair and there was a corgi asleep at her feet. She looked just like she did on stamps. She was quite small, and her hair was immaculately white. She was wearing a cream coloured skirt and matching top with gold buttons; the kind of outfit only The Queen can look good in. When we entered the room she smiled and stood up
"Pleased to meet you, you must be Oscar," she said, shaking Tom’s hand (her voice was exactly as it sounds on TV).
Tom looked embarrassed. "That’s Oscar," he mumbled, pointing at me.
"Ah. Of course. What a tribute you are to our nation..." she said, shaking my hand, then she moved on to Elliot, and started asking him questions.
I think she thought we were a boy band. She asked Elliot where he was from. When he told her London, she seemed surprised, and asked him what religion he was. He said he didn’t know. Then she moved on and started asking Abe Lincoln about his favourite songs. Abe Lincoln told her, then she moved swiftly on to ask Winston some questions, and that’s when something unbelievable happened (and thank god I was looking at Winston when it happened because it’s an image I’ll never forget). The Queen had just asked him what his middle name was. Winston was thinking of the answer, then his face went pale white and he leaned sideways and vomited into a giant Chinese vase. It all happened in slow motion. Elliot, Tom, Abe Lincoln and me gasped. The Queen shrieked, and her corgi woke up and started barking. A guard ran over and took the Queen by the arm and rushed her out of the room. Winston kept saying sorry, but it was no use. We were chased out by a furious Palace guard.

The club has continued to grow, and over the years, many of its members have become friends.

“If the authors intention were to wet the readers appetite enough to make them 'want' to continue with the series; she hit her mark.” ~ Donna J, Goodreads

Author Bio

Sherri spent most of her childhood detesting English class. It was one of her least favorite subjects because she never seemed to fit into the standard mold. She wasn't good at spelling, or following grammar rules, and outlines made her head spin. For that reason, Sherri never imagined becoming an author.

At the age of thirty, all of that changed. After getting frustrated with the direction a television show was taking two of its characters, Sherri decided to try her hand at writing an alternate ending, and give the characters their happily ever after. By the time the story finished, it was one of the top ten read stories on the site, and her readers were encouraging her to write more.

Nearly eight years later, Sherri is the author of eight full-length novels, and two short stories. Writing has become a creative outlet that allows her to explore a wide range of emotions, while having fun taking her characters through all the twists and turns she can create. You can find a current list of all of Sherri’s books and sign up for her monthly newsletter at www.sherrihayesauthor.com

Burning For Her Kiss (Serpent's Kiss #1)

Beth Davenport has no interest in getting involved with another man for the foreseeable future. To say her last relationship ended in disaster would be a colossal understatement. The only reason she agrees to put in an appearance at Serpent’s Kiss, a private kink club in downtown St. Louis, is because her best friend, Nicole, won’t quit nagging her. When she walks in the door that night, the last thing she expects to do is meet a man who will have her reconsidering her ban on men.

As a captain with the St. Louis Fire Department, Drew Parker is used to being in charge. His crew relies on him to make sure they know what they’re doing and return home to their families after every shift. It isn’t, however, what he wants in a relationship. Drew decides to join Serpent’s Kiss to see if what appeals to him in fantasy is something he wants to explore in the real world. He’s also hoping that he’ll be lucky enough to meet a woman with whom he can explore his desires. The night Beth walks into the club, he is intrigued. Drew has to get to know her better.

After what happened to her, Beth is reluctant to get involved with Drew. It doesn’t matter that he is sweet and charming. She’s been burned before and Beth doesn’t think she can survive having her heart crushed again. Drew, however, won’t take no for an answer. He wants a relationship and is determined to chip away at her defenses until she relents. Will she give him a chance, or did her ex leave her with scars too deep to heal?

The Countdown Is On: 1 Day - Welcome to Serpent's Kiss by Sherri Hayes

1 Day To Go

Katrina Mayer glanced at the clock. She had a few more minutes before she needed to head upstairs. It was enough time for her to glance over the newest membership application she'd received.

The applicant's name was Drew Parker. He was a firefighter and listed himself as submissive. Everything about him seemed fairly straightforward. He was twenty-eight. Single. And looking for a kinky relationship with a female dominant.

Relaunch - A Christmas Proposal

A Christmas Proposal

Matthew Andersen knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Cali Stanton. Since she came into his life just five months ago, his world had completely changed for the better. With everything in their lives finally coming together, he was determined to make their first Christmas a memorable one.

Excerpt

He spent almost an hour washing and cutting fruit, prepping breakfast for the next morning. Breakfast in bed was the first order of business. It would get things moving in the right direction and hopefully show Cali how special she was to him. Before her, his life had been a series of things that needed to be done. She’d opened him up, made him relax and enjoy life a little. Cali made things less predictable.

Once he felt everything in the kitchen was prepared, Matthew moved into the living room. They’d put up a tree and decorated it. He’d never been much for Christmas decorating, at least not since his mom died. His father and brother, Jason, had seemed to feel the same way, so their house had pretty much looked the same all year around. The only nod to Christmas had been a fake tree about two feet tall on a small plastic stand. Most of the time, however, it remained bare of any ornaments.

With Cali living with him, decorating had felt right. She’d sacrificed sleep so they could pick out a live tree together, and buy other holiday themed items. They’d spent several hours covering nearly every surface in their living room with some hint of Christmas. Each little touch made their house feel more like a home instead of just a place to live.

She did that. Not just with the Christmas decorations, but with everything.

Sneak Peek Sunday - The Little Drummer Boy by Sydney Logan

Today's Sunday Sneak Peek is from Sydney Logan. She's back with another holiday short story that is sure to put you in the holiday spirit. Be sure to enter her giveaway for an Amazon gift card and a handcrafted Christmas bracelet!
Coming November 29 Exclusively on Amazon Kindle
It’s Christmas Eve, and Justin Banks is on the hunt for a last-minute gift for his wife, Megan. With the help of a homeless man and the beat of a drum, Justin stumbles upon the one thing Megan has always wanted. The one thing money can’t buy. It's amazing what we can hear if we just take a moment and really listen.

There’s something really beautiful about my wife, and it is a quality that a lot of people never have the chance to witness. There is a certain look in her eyes and a particular expression on her face that lets you know she's made a decision, and you’re an idiot if you even try to stand in her way. I have seen her work her magic on stubborn clients, deadbeat dads, and arrogant attorneys.

This kid doesn't stand a chance.

Megan drops to her knees in front of the little boy, right there on the dirty ground. “Luke, I just made some homemade chili. Do you like chili?”

He nods quickly.

“I also made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Justin loves them, and I always make a bunch extra. Do you like peanut butter and jelly?”

Luke licks his lips, and my heart breaks.

“Why don't you come home with us? You can help Justin eat his sandwiches, and later, we'll try to find your parents.”

I can see the indecision on his little face. He doesn’t want to say no. That’s another incredible thing about my wife. Telling her no is virtually impossible.

“My mom told me to stay here.”

“But it's so cold, Luke,” Megan murmurs, her voice breaking with emotion.

“I'll be okay.”
Megan lowers her head, and for just a second, I worry that even my amazing wife has met her match. But then I hear her quiet sniffles, and Luke's face falls when he realizes she’s crying.    He steps closer to her. “Why are you crying, Megan?”    She lifts her head and gazes into the little boy's eyes. “Because I'm going to worry about you tonight. I'm afraid you'll be hungry and cold.”   I hold my breath as he reaches for her, pressing his dirty little hand against her face. Megan doesn’t even flinch.    “I'll go home with you, Megan. Please don't cry.” Luke then looks up at me. “Can I bring my drum?”    “Of course you can.”    Megan sighs with relief and rises to her feet.  With a smile as bright as the stars, the little boy takes my wife's hand. She takes mine, and the three of us walk out of the cold alleyway.

Sneak Peek Sunday - A Christmas Proposal by Sherri Hayes

This weeks' Sneak Peek comes from A Christmas Proposal by Sherri Hayes. This is a holiday short that can be downloaded FREE from the publisher's website.

Summary
Matthew Andersen knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Cali Stanton. Since she came into his life just five months ago, his world had completely changed for the better. With everything in their lives finally coming together, he was determined to make their first Christmas a memorable one.

Excerpt

Turning into the driveway of the townhouse they shared, Cali quietly made her way into the house. He’d left the hall light on for her just like he usually did.

The house had little touches of Christmas everywhere, but she’d mostly kept her decorating frenzy to the living room. Matthew owned no Christmas decorations, so what was now adorning their home consisted of a mixture of new and some things she’d borrowed from her father’s house. He had enough Christmas decorations to cover his house more than once and that was saying something considering its size.

She tiptoed into the kitchen, noticing that everything was clean and in its place. After getting herself a drink of water, she turned off the light and walked up the stairs.

The bedroom was dark, but she could see his outline as he lay in their bed asleep. He was lying on his side, facing her, with his arm outstretched. If she had been in bed with him right now, his arm would be around her waist, tucking her into his side. It was his favorite way to sleep.

Cali walked across the room trying not to make any noise. As much as she’d love to just slip under the covers with him, she needed a shower.

She slowly stripped off her work clothes and stepped into the shower. The warm spray hit her full force, but she welcomed it. After a long shift, it eased the ache in her muscles.

No matter how quiet she tried to be so as not to wake Matthew, he slept so lightly that she rarely held out much hope. Sure enough, less than two minutes after turning on the shower, she heard the bathroom door open. Seconds later, warm muscular arms circled her waist. “Welcome home,” he murmured against her shoulder.
