#Romance #Review A View To A Thrill by Lexi Blake

Title: A View To A Thrill
Author: Lexi Blake
Rating: 3 stars

I debated on writing this review for over a month, but ultimately decided to post it. I read my first book my Lexi Blake about two years ago and I loved it. Sean and Grace's story was amazing. I fell in love with them and couldn't wait to dive into more books in the series.

A View To A Thrill is the seventh book in the series and it was a book I was really looking forward to. The author had been setting up Simon and Chelsea's book since we met Chelsea and her sister in book five. To say I was disappointed in how the story unfolded is putting it mildly.

I will say if I had read this book without having read any of the other books in this series, while I might not have loved it like I did Sean and Grace's book, I would have most likely wanted to read more from this author. As it is now, I have no plans to read anything else from this author in the future.

After reading seven books in the series I've notice that all of the heroes, Dominants, have the same likes, dislikes, requirements, etc. The only variation was in book two, which was a menage. But even then the two Doms still required the same protocols for their submissives and the submissives all seem to have the same likes, dislikes, limits, etc. It has started to feel as if I am reading the same book over and over again, which is very disappointing.

The writing and editing is solid, as always, but I can't seem to get past the character repetition.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes romantic suspense with a little kink thrown in for good measure.

#Romance #Review of Dungeon Royale by Lexi Blake

Title: Dungeon Royale
Author: Lexi Blake
Rating: 4 stars

I have mixed feelings about this book. Even rating it was a struggle. I can say that this was my least favorite book in the series so far.

That's not to say the story line was bad, because it wasn't. The plot itself was right in line with the rest of the books in this series. However, there were times when the hero in the story, Damon, got on my nerves. He never crossed a huge line or anything, but I just wasn't as crazy about him as I have been some of the other heroes in this series.

Penny, however, was a different story. I loved her! She was smart and brave...one of my favorite heroines so far in this series.  So you see my dilemma.

As always, it was great seeing some of the previous characters we met in other books again in this one. We also got to meet a new character, and I look forward to getting to know him as the series progresses.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a spicy BDSM romance with lots of action and adventure.

#Review Love and Let Die by Lexi Blake

Title: Love and Let Die
Author: Lexi Blake
Rating: 5 stars

This is the fifth book in Lexi Blake's Masters and Mercenaries series and so far it's one of my favorites. For me, this one ranks right up there with the first book in the series, which happens to feature Ian's little brother, Sean.

I knew when we first met Ian in book one that whoever his lady ended up being she was going to have to be tough. Ian needed a strong woman and he got it in Charlie.

What can I say about this book? I loved Ian and Charlie. I loved them separately, but I especially loved them together. They brought out the best in the other person. Sean tells his brother at one point that Charlie is Ian's match and he is one hundred percent correct. She's the right amount of sweet and tough and exactly perfect for Ian.

This is a great series, but I wouldn't recommend reading them out of order since there are elements that carry over from previous books.

#Review Sanctum by Lexi Blake

Title: Sanctum
Author: Lexi Blake
Rating: 5 stars

This is a spin off book from Lexi Blake's Masters and Mercenaries Series. Considering I've enjoyed the other books I've read from this author, I was fairly confident I'd like this one as well.

Ryan very much fits in with the rest of the Doms we've met at Sanctum. A great guy, good intentions, but sometimes you just want to smack him upside the head. Jillian was stubborn and extremely hurt by Ryan's past actions.

I really liked the set up of this story and the way the issues were resolved. It wasn't one of those wave a magic wand and everything is peachy again type of things. They have to work at it, which I like.

I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a nice romance with a little kink.

#Review of On Her Master's Secret Service by Lexi Blake

Title: On Her Master's Secret Service
Author: Lexi Blake
Rating: 5 stars

This is the forth book in Lexi Blake's Masters and Mercenaries series.

I went into this book expecting to love it and I wasn't disappointed. Readers got to know Alex and Eve in the previous Master's and Mercenaries books and I was looking forward to finding out more of their story.

I have to say that this was the most emotional one by far for me. Alex and Eve may be divorced, but that doesn't mean they don't still love each other. This was a story about breaking down barriers and making yourself vulnerable to the one you love. I enjoyed seeing these two reconnect and be honest with each other about what happened and why, making them, and their love even stronger than it was before.

While this book can be read as a standalone, I wouldn't recommend it. Since Alex and Eve have been in all three of the earlier books, readers should really read those before diving into On Her Master's Secret Service. It will give a better understanding of where they're starting from and a greater appreciation for the evolution of their relationship in the story.

#Review A Dom Is Forever by Lexi Blake

Title: A Dom Is Forever
Author: Lexi Blake
Rating: 4 stars

This is the third book in Lexi Blake's Masters and Mercenaries series. The biggest difference between this book and the two before it is that most of the book takes place in the UK. We get to meet some new characters and get some more details about Ian's past. There were a lot of twists and turns in this one that kept me on my toes.

Liam was in both the previous books, but he took a backseat in most of the action. It was nice to see more of him and find out about his past. Avery was a good match for him. She really made him work for it, which I was happy to see. Her backstory was heartbreaking, but again it was exactly what Liam needed to move forward. I was glad to see these two finally get together.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves series with strong alpha males and a side of kink.

#Review The Men With The Golden Cuffs by Lexi Blake

Title: The Men With The Golden Cuffs
Author: Lexi Blake
Rating: 3.5 stars

This is the second book in Lexi Blake's Masters and Mercenaries series. I'd originally planned to skip reading this book because it's a menage and that isn't my thing, however, I was skimming through the story looking for more of the couple from the first book and ended up getting sucked in.

Like I said, this book is a menage...the only one in the series as I understand. In the first book I was not a fan of Jake and Adam, the two guys in this story. They did grow on me a bit in this one. I also liked Serena. The problem I had was that I didn't feel the relationship when they were all together. There were times in the story when it was just Serena with Jake or Serena with Adam and I enjoyed those times way more than I did when they were all three together.

The writing was good and so was the story line. I just couldn't get into the menage relationship.

I would recommend this book to those looking for a good romantic suspense with some kink and don't mind menage.

#Review The Dom Who Loved Me by Lexi Blake

Title: The Dom Who Loved Me
Author: Lexi Blake
Rating: 5 stars

Lexi Blake has been on my radar for years. I met her in Colorado a few years back, but I'd never read any of her books. Why? Because a good friend of mine loves her and after I'd read a few other authors she'd suggested and didn't like them, she was scared to death that I wouldn't like Lexi's books so she forbid me from reading them. As luck would have it, Lexi made the box set of her first three books in this series free for a weekend and I couldn't resist the temptation.

The first book in Lexi Blake's Masters and Mercenaries series is all about Sean and Grace. It was hard not to fall in love with them. Sean had his stupid guy moments, but he more than made up for them.

One of my favorite things about this book is that it was more than just one sex scene after the next. Readers were able to get to know the characters and see their relationship develop and evolve.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something with a good mix of romance, suspense, and BDSM.

Weekly Update & Giveaway Winner - June 24, 2013

It's Monday, and I'm back in Ohio once more. The trip to Colorado was eventful in both good and bad ways, but overall I count it as a success. I met lots of authors I've seen and talked to on Facebook for the last couple of years, and had the opportunity to meet some new readers.

First things first, however.

I want to thank everyone who entered my Hidden Threat RomCon giveaway. The First Kiss Event was a huge success at RomCon with Hidden Threat's first kiss scene getting voted the best. That's always a very exciting moment for an author. The corresponding giveaway here on my blog also went well with over 100 entries. I've sent the winners and email notifying them. Thank you to everyone who entered.

Now, on to RomCon. If you follow me on Facebook, you've seen all the pictures I took at the conference.

As I mentioned above, Friday morning was the First Kiss Event. This is a picture of me with the reader who won a signed copy of Hidden Threat.

These ladies were also at the First Kiss Event. They came all the way to Colorado from the UK for RomCon.

Friday night was my book signing. Thanks to the First Kiss Event, I ended up selling out of the copies of Hidden Threat I'd brought with me. I guess that first kiss of Cali and Matthew's left a lasting impression. ;)

All of my events were on Friday, so on Saturday I was able to go around to the different events and mingle with other authors. Here are some pictures with fellow authors that attended the event.

This past week was mostly about getting ready for RomCon, but I did get two and a half more chapters written. The manuscript for Finding Anna Book 4 is now up over 130K, and I still have a few more chapters to go at least. My goal is to finish it this week, so cross your fingers.
