Looking Back At 2013, and Looking Forward to 2014

What a year!

I can honestly can I don't think I've ever been as busy as I was in 2013. This year I published two new novels,

Red Zone (Daniels Brothers #2)

After a case ended badly for Rebecca Carson, she’s losing her mind sitting around her apartment waiting on her superiors to allow her to return to work. Since she was a teenager, the only thing she’d ever wanted was to join the FBI. Now that dream was in danger.
Gage Daniels has made a pretty good life for himself. A nice house. A career he loves. As a professional football player, he’s used to getting almost everything he’d ever want with just the snap of his fingers. This includes women. A well-timed smile is usually all it takes to attract the opposite sex, especially in Nashville.
When a stalker threatens Gage, the team owner calls an old friend, Rebecca’s ex-partner Travis Hansen, to help protect his star quarterback and find the person responsible. Hansen offers Rebecca the job, and she jumps at the chance. It’s work, and it will get her out of her apartment. How bad can it be?
Posing as Gage’s girlfriend, however, isn’t as easy as it seems. The man is relentless. Rebecca must work to protect Gage while staving off his advances. She’s there to do a job, nothing more. The last thing she wants is to be another notch on a hotshot athlete’s belt.

As the stalker continues to up the ante, Rebecca finds it harder and harder to keep her distance from Nashville’s star quarterback. He isn’t what she expected in one of the city’s most notorious playboys. Now all she has to do is keep him safe until they can find his stalker, and hope she doesn’t lose her heart in the process.

and Trust (Finding Anna, Book 3)

For the last two months, Brianna has discovered something she never thought she would again. Hope. After the horror of being Ian’s slave for ten months, a fate she never imagined she’d escape, it feels as if she is living a dream. She has freedom she hadn’t expected to have again, and she wakes up every morning not fearing what the day will bring.

There is also Stephan. The man who saved her from the daily torture she had to endure at the hands of Ian and his friends. The same man who makes her heart race with just the thought of him. Life is good.

Outside forces are determined to conspire against them, however. When Brianna’s father shows up on her doorstep, it sends her world spiraling out of control. He brings with him new information about how Brianna ended up in Ian’s clutches, but will it make a difference? Will Stephan be able to find a way to make Ian pay for all he made Brianna suffer?

As Brianna and Stephan try to find out the truth, their relationship is tested. She is forced to face her past head on and deal with the ugly reality of what happened to her. Will Stephan’s love be enough to see her through her newest challenge, or will the fragile trust they’ve built come crumbling down around them as the truth makes itself known.

I also traveled to West Chester, OH, Colorado Springs, CO, Las Vegas, NV, Austin, TX, and Allen, TX. Throughout my travels I met some great people, authors and readers alike. Here are some pictures:

Lori Foster's Reader and Author Get Together - West Chester, OH
RomCon - Colorado Springs, CO

RNC - Las Vegas, NV

My biggest regret of 2013 is that I didn't get a whole lot of reading done. With all the traveling, I spent most of my time writing and editing. With that said, I did manage to get some new books read this year.

My favorite…

Hotblooded by Erin Nicholas

Her mama always said the women in their family were hotblooded…

And it’s been causing Brooke Donovan trouble her whole life. But it wasn’t until her mother took on the most powerful man in Honey Creek, Texas, that Brooke truly realized the daughter of the town whore didn’t stand a chance. When she left, it was supposed to be for good. But now, thanks to her late husband’s deal with their hometown, she’s back in the last place on earth she wants to be. Temporarily. As soon as her debts are paid off, she’s outta here. Until in walks the one man who can make her rethink everything.
Dr. Jack Silver fixes things. So, when he learns his uncle is responsible for Brooke losing her husband, his sense of honor drives him across Texas to make amends. Instead of a broken woman, though, he finds a gorgeous, feisty physician’s assistant trying to survive in a town that wants her gone. She also has a mile-high fence built out of pride—and a clinic that’s at risk of going belly up. She may not want his money, but the clinic? He can fix that. He just never expects that in setting Brooke back on her feet, he’ll be swept right off his own.

So what's next in 2014?

Right now I'm about 20 pages from finishing my re-edit of Hidden Threat. I'm hoping to have that finished within the next few days. After that, it will go to my publisher for polishing, and then reissue. If you've already purchased an ebook of Hidden Threat in the past, you should be able to download the updated version once it's available, which will also include the new cover.
Old Cover
New Cover
Cali Stanton has one goal in life, being a doctor. She does not intend to run the family business. But when her father gets injured and tells her that she’s the only one he trusts, Cali finds herself behind his desk at Stanton Enterprises.

Matthew Andersen and his brother Jason have spent the last two years managing security at Stanton Enterprises. But when someone threatens the company and its CEO, challenging Matthew’s abilities, what seems like an easy task, becomes a big problem.

Cali and Matthew must fight their growing attraction for each other to avoid a potentially damaging office romance. As the threats continue, they must work together to keep the company running and discover who is behind the threats.

But when things escalate to violence and Cali becomes the latest target, things get personal. Can Matthew find the Hidden Threat before it’s too late?

I will also be releasing the 4th and final book in my Finding Anna Series, Trust.

Available March 20, 2014.

Brianna is lost for the fourth time in her life. Each time was unexpected, and each changed the course of her future. The first life-altering event occurred when her mother died, and she moved to Minnesota to live with her father.

The second was when she was kidnapped at the age of seventeen and forced to be a slave. She would never forget those ten months. Brianna thought her life was over.

Everything changed again the day Stephan steamrolled into her life and brought her home to live with him. She had no idea what to expect—what life with her new Master would hold. That first month with Stephan was, in some ways, more confusing than the prior ten. As a slave, she’d known her place. With Stephan everything was new and different. He’d given her freedom and so much more.

Five months after Stephan rescued her, Brianna once again finds her life flipped upside down.
In this fourth, and final, installment of Finding Anna, Brianna must unearth strength she never knew she possessed. Stephan can no longer protect her from the outside world. She must learn to trust herself, embrace who she is, and discover who she wants to be. Only by facing her demons can Brianna find true happiness and peace.

Available Fall 2014

Crossing The Line (Daniels Brothers #3)

This will be the eldest brother, Paul's book. Paul is a homicide detective, and a widower. He's been alone for almost five years…since his wife was hit and killed by a drunk driver. It's about time he found  someone else to share his life with, and Megan thinks she's his perfect match.

Weekly Update & Giveaway Winner - June 24, 2013

It's Monday, and I'm back in Ohio once more. The trip to Colorado was eventful in both good and bad ways, but overall I count it as a success. I met lots of authors I've seen and talked to on Facebook for the last couple of years, and had the opportunity to meet some new readers.

First things first, however.

I want to thank everyone who entered my Hidden Threat RomCon giveaway. The First Kiss Event was a huge success at RomCon with Hidden Threat's first kiss scene getting voted the best. That's always a very exciting moment for an author. The corresponding giveaway here on my blog also went well with over 100 entries. I've sent the winners and email notifying them. Thank you to everyone who entered.

Now, on to RomCon. If you follow me on Facebook, you've seen all the pictures I took at the conference.

As I mentioned above, Friday morning was the First Kiss Event. This is a picture of me with the reader who won a signed copy of Hidden Threat.

These ladies were also at the First Kiss Event. They came all the way to Colorado from the UK for RomCon.

Friday night was my book signing. Thanks to the First Kiss Event, I ended up selling out of the copies of Hidden Threat I'd brought with me. I guess that first kiss of Cali and Matthew's left a lasting impression. ;)

All of my events were on Friday, so on Saturday I was able to go around to the different events and mingle with other authors. Here are some pictures with fellow authors that attended the event.

This past week was mostly about getting ready for RomCon, but I did get two and a half more chapters written. The manuscript for Finding Anna Book 4 is now up over 130K, and I still have a few more chapters to go at least. My goal is to finish it this week, so cross your fingers.

Weekly Update - June 17, 2013

Happy Monday everyone. I hope everyone's having a great week so far. Here in Ohio the sun is shinning. We're experiencing our first real taste of summer with highs in the upper 80's and high humidity. This is one of those times when I'm glad I work inside and not out in the hot sun.

Finding Anna Book 4 is still a work in progress. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm hoping that will happen in the very near future. I'm over 127K right now, and I know I still have several chapters to go. Finding writing time is going to be difficult for the rest of the week since I'm flying to Colorado Springs for RomCon Thursday, but I'm taking my laptop with me so hopefully I'll get something accomplished.

Speaking of RomCon...a reminder that I will be signing Friday afternoon from 4:30 - 5:45. I will have all my books with me, including some copies of Season of Love which includes my Christmas short story A Christmas Proposal.

I will be giving away 3 copies of my debut novel, Hidden Threat, at RomCon, and so as not to leave those unable to attend out, I will also be running a giveaway here on my blog for 3 ecopies of Hidden Threat. Make sure you stop back on Thursday to enter. There will be ways to promote the post in order to have more chances to win.

Weekly Update - June 3, 2013

Hello everyone. I'm going to keep this short today because I am already three days past my deadline for FA4, and my brain is pretty much fried at this point.

Writing is going well for the most part. We've hit a few snags, but nothing a few minor re-writes aren't able to fix. Adjusting them now means that edits will go smoother when the time comes. The manuscript is up to 117K at the moment, and I'm still writing.

Lori Fosters RAGT is this coming weekend. If you're going to be attending, I will be signing my books on Friday evening with the other indie authors. I will have all 5 of my currently released novels with me for sale.

I also received my schedule for RomCon in Colorado Springs yesterday. All  my events will be taking place on Friday, June 21st, as with Lori Foster's RAGT, I will have all my novels with me for sale.
Friday 9:45-10:40 E-1 1st Kisses After Breakfast
Friday 1:00-1:55 E-2 Speed Date #2
Friday 4:30-5:45 Ballroom Author Signing A-J

I hope everyone has a great week. Happy writing and reading.

Weekly Update - May 6, 2013

You may have noticed that I didn't post an update last week. I'm not sure what was going on with me exactly, but I was in a sort of a funk when it came to posting. If you follow me on Twitter, you probably noticed that I didn't post much there either. Not sure what was going on, but hopefully I've gotten things back on track now.

First and foremost, I want to give you an update on my writing. Finding Anna, Book 4 is going well. I hit 70K yesterday, and I'm optimistic that I might actually make my deadline of June 1st. If that does happen, the final book in my Finding Anna series should be out to readers the first part of 2014.

The first blogger reviews for Truth are starting to come in, and so far everyone is loving it. July 25th can't come soon enough!
