The click of metal sounded as he secured the handcuffs around her wrists. He’d tried not to make them too tight in fear they’d hurt her, but she was already pulling against them in her excitement. They’d been talking about this for weeks now.

Before she could do any real damage to her wrists, he took hold of her forearms and pulled her flush against his chest for a hard kiss. “You ready?”

Her gaze met his, wide and alive. “Yes,” she breathed.

After one more kiss, he stepped back and pushed her onto the bed. “Let’s get started then.”

Six Sentence Sunday - March 25, 2012

It was too late to deny it anymore; he wanted Cali Stanton more than he'd wanted any other woman in his life. The problem was he couldn't have her; nothing had changed. She was still his boss. He'd even heard her tell her father tonight that she had plans to go back to Africa after her dad was back on his feet. A relationship between the two of them was out of the question.

He'd just have to stay away from her.

Excerpt - Behind Closed Doors

I've been out of the loop a lot this week. March has been a little crazy on the writing front, and I completely missed the sign-ups for Flash Fiction Friday and Six Sentence Sunday this week. So to make up for it just a little, I decided to post a small excerpt from my newest release Behind Closed Doors. I hope you enjoy! :)

"Once they arrived at the hotel, he still appeared agitated, but at least he wasn’t using that angry voice that made her want to cower.

She didn’t know what to think. The safety she’d begun to feel around him had quickly changed back to fear.

Her mind was blank. She couldn’t think. So instead, she just let him lead her to wherever he was going. She remembered he’d booked them separate rooms, so she was hoping he’d just drop her off and leave. She’d figure everything out tomorrow. Maybe he’d be back to the Chris she was starting to like by then.

When they came to the room however, he told her to get inside and then followed her in. Her panic hit a new high as he carelessly threw their belongings by the door and walked toward her.

“Now,” he said through clenched teeth, “you are going to tell me what the hell is going on, and you are going to tell me now.”

“I—” Her voice shook as she back herself up against the wall.

“Now, Elizabeth.”

Her eyes filled with tears as she sank to the floor and curled herself into a ball. “I can’t,” she cried.

For a long moment, he was silent, and all she could hear was their breathing. Her mind raced with what he would do next. She didn’t think he would hurt her though. Over the last month, she’d seen how Chris dealt with stress, and it wasn’t by using his fists.

When he finally spoke again, his voice was softer, calmer. “Why not?”
“Because . . . because you’ll hate me,” she admitted."

Flash Fiction Friday - 3-9-12

Flash Fiction Friday. What can you do with only 100 words?

He lay there looking out the window as he did many mornings. People would be coming out of their houses soon to walk their dogs, or go for a run, and so would she.

For over a year he’d been watching her, his beautiful neighbor. It wasn’t as if he hadn’t talked to her in that year, he had, but those conversations were restricted to pleasantries and the weather. He needed to make a move if he ever had a shot with her. Today, when she came home from walking her dog, he was going to ask her out, finally.

Six Sentence Sunday - March 4, 2012

Even though she was completely clothed, she felt the need to cover herself.

He was huge, taller than Jared or her father. His hair was a dark brown, only a shade darker than his eyes, and he looked dangerous, more dangerous than her husband, and her frightened expression must have been apparent. She closed her eyes tight, willing everything to go away: her memories, her fear, this man before her.
Jan said, “Chris, you have perfect timing.” She walked over to the man and placed her hand on his arm.

Flash Fiction Friday - 3-2-12

Flash Fiction Friday. What can you do with only 100 words?

The water rippled gently, alerting her to his presence, moments before she felt him behind her. His body was warm and hard, a stark contrast to the soothing feel of the water, and the cool of the rock.

He didn’t speak. Instead, he allowed his hands, his mouth, his body to do the talking for him as he pulled her right leg back and up. His lips descended to place heated kisses on her neck and shoulder. Of its own volition, her back arched, encouraging his attentions. No one could get her this hot and wanting. No one, but him.
